"Ive used Actinic for many years building over 70 ecommerce site with it but Ive now stopped using it as it lags so far behind the other carts available. Things like reviews, customer accounts, stock control, product generation etc that have been asked for by users and are standard in other systems are missing or sadly lacking.
The software is full of bugs of which several run the risk of you loosing your site and the development team just ignore fixing them. The next version V10 does not look any better and will still need lots of addons from 3rd party developers to get decent functionality.
It was good in its day but now its rubbish."

"An excellent product especially in v7 with the ability to create duplicate products in different sections.
Works straight from the box with an extensive range of templates that can be easilty modified for colour and own logo etc to give a e-commerce site quickly and professionaly.
For the more technically minded Actinic can be ripped apart to create a style and layout to do just about anything that you want it to do. The developer version is a must if you want to create or design for more than 1 site.
Backup and support is first rate with the guys at Actinic responding to issues very quickly. The online forum has a wealth of tips, answers and solutions for all versions of Actinic.
3rd party plug-ins and support/design services allows you to take it further still.
Having used Actinic for 2 years I find it so very simple to add a new products (less than 2 minutes for it to be added and uploaded) on a day to day basis and then tweak the design when in the mood to make my site perform and look even better. Not cheap but I recovered the cost of developer within a month of going live and make a nice second income designing and creating other Actinic sites."
