Reviewed by: Larry "The products this company produces are riddled with poor quality. Go search on stackoverflow.com to see what credible developers think about the product. When we say 'buggy' we mean critical features just. don't. work. Ask them about it and you'll be ignored. Ask on their forum and it will be ignored. Or deleted. Repeat: More often than not you will be completely ignored by their support staff.
The code is a ghastly, muddled affair with no convention or standard in mind. These people are still living in the mid-to-late 90s when IT was full of unscrupulous chiselers. And, apparently, when people buried UI code deep in business logic classes (who does this??). They utilize some of the more advanced features of ASP.NET, but completely forget about the fundamentals of good coding. Their code doesn't work, they don't test, the architecture is a nightmare of incompetence. Making simple modifications becomes a chore (I've made many). It's basically a developer nightmare.
Finally, their management is governed by childish tactics, including the famous ignoring sprinkled with outright fabrications (note: if you aren't actually DONE with code you're working on, don't sell it to consumers. Geez.). Version 9 is a pile of slow junk with many bugs. The MultiStore application they advertise on their front page? It doesn't work! For anyone. They are selling software that doesn't operate at the most basic level! Honestly, I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't experienced it myself.
You've been warned. Their days are numbered. There are too many people who take the craft seriously. Like so many others, I wish I could go back in time. I would've made a U-turn.

It looks like a great deal, ~$1300.00 for a fully functional cart, however you will need to pay around $5,000 to actually get it working and couple of thousand for skin.
Getting it installed is a horrible experience, the hosting company installed it and still there were issues, not small issues but getting major parts to work is proving impossible.
This software is sold "as-is", you are stuck with it. If they offered a 30 day guarantee I would ask for money back in a second.
I can see that there is a lot of functionality, this cart shows promise but it is horribly buggy and it seems like everytime you log in there is an error.

Abysmal customer service, and company repeatedly demonstrates lack of morals. Ignore the hyperbole and self-promoting that exists all over the web. forums.aspdotnetstorefront.com is extremely censored, more so than any other forum or online community I have ever seen. Censorship of any question regarding bugs are deleted without explanation or consideration of the quandary customer is left in.
Avoid cheapest version of the software, since it provides zero ability to customize any logic."

We have experienced so many issues with the company including horrible customer support, their upgrades crashed our site, they sent us files to fix the crash that had even more errors in them and caused permanent problems that they never were able to fix, there are coding problems with the site map, etc. I cannot emphasize how bad their customer support is. I have spent hours trying to explain basic problems to them, without getting answers. They have a bunch of programmers answering the support questions and cannot explain things to someone below their level of expertise. If you are not extremely technical, do not purchase this software. I have had to pay thousands of dollars to have someone fix the problems we've experienced with this platform. Also, both at my last company and with my new company, settings in the software periodically revert to the default settings without anyone touching them. This resulted in several problems with the site and days to figure out. Bottom line, don't waste your money on this unless you are a programmer and will never need to speak to anyone for support post purchase. "

Review date: September, 2008 Reviewed by: DG "Great product! We intially messed around with their demo on our local PC, ended up buying it and using it for a year and counting. It's easily the best turn-key product we've used in about 10 years of experience!
We're using the current version of ASPDNSF ML and it's working *very* well for our needs. The product has enough features that it lets us do a lot of different things should we need to. For example, we can use real time shipping quotes, or switch the system over to a pre-determined flat rate shipping.
Setup is relatively easy and performance thus far has been excellent. This is a product we're going to use for as long as we can. They've been receptive to most of the feature requests I've sent in.
Support community is excellent. There is a good knowledgebase and an excellent peer forum. Another good quality here is the tech support. I've sent stuff in at 3am and received quick replys. I've sent really annoying/misguided questions and they've always been patient and helpful."

Review date: September, 2008 Reviewed by: Rod " I have been developing a customised solution for a client who required some features that are not available out of the box in any e-commerce solution we have found. As a developer I have found AspDotNetStorefront extremely flexible in its design and have been able to integrate my customer needs seemlessly. My client has handled the design changes and customised the application to suit them without my support and they have been very happy with the result. The cleaver XML model enables design and layout changes without the need for a fully fledged programmer which has saved them money and me a lot of headaches. I'm very surprised to see poor reviews on support, I have always found both the forums and official support to be very helpful and most importantly for me "prompt". I had originally started with another solution and changed to AspDotNetStorefront due to the previous alternatives poor support. I am so happy I made the change to AspDotNetStorefront.

I've been using this ASPDontnetStoreFront for over two years - started with the Pro version 5.x and set it up to run our store. Took about 3 months to work out issues with Chase Paymentech and to establish a few basic reports and exports which it lacked.
This winter, we upgraded to ML version 7.x - took more than 3 months and required support from a dedicated programmer and an outside consulting firm.
Now, just a few months later, they've advised me they have a major security breach in the software and advise me to upgrade with patch. They won't provide any support to help integrate this fix, and directed me back to an oustide developer - probably looking at several thousand dollars.
Bottom line - Unless you have adequate internal support to handle the upkeep of this cart, it's not going to pay off in the long run. I've invested quite a lot of time and money into the cart and now I have to shop for a simpler solution.
As a very experienced user, I can't reccomend this cart."

Once you start to press the features, it gets complicated very quickly and the support has not been very good. During initial setup, we had many problems communicating with our merchant bank, expecially on refunds. I'm in the middle of an upgrade, and it's going so poorly, I'm reading reviews for other shopping carts!"

They have a major issue of some sort with PayPalPro and I'm getting bounced back and forth between ASPDNSF tech support and my web host's tech support (which was the host recommended by ASPDNSF). Their tech support is lame. I'm a developer, so I hate to see what the average small business owner has to do to get this working. I even enlisted the aid of one of their approved consulting firms and they couldn't figure out why the site won't work. I'm not saying anyone else will have my particular issue, but be aware that their tech support does little to help you resolve problems. Seems like it's only a couple of guys doing the support and they're probably overworked."

I give this product a 4 of 5 beacuse of the admin area. But I know that they are working on updating this part as well. But even with a 4 of 5 this cart is the best there is for that price. (even if you compare with cart´s that cost 3-4 times this is still the best cart I have tested).

Review date: January, 2006 Reviewed by: Sean - Canada "We initially purchased the storefront back in March of 2005 and for the better part of a year have seen what it can accomplish and compare it to other available packages / and code (you get the complete source code). I don’t want this review to sound like a sales pitch, but ASPDOTNETSTOREFRONT is by far a great example of a robust and highly extensible application. XML / C# / VB.NET / ASP.NET 2.0 / SQL 2005 (to name a few) are some of the up-to-date technologies that are being utilized to render the apps strong performance and robustness. Compared to other storefronts on the market, you will be hard pressed to find such a full-featured app at a great price with no monthly fees. Fully and infinitely customizable aspects of this ASP.NET application (in both C# and VB.NET) gives you complete control either directly through the source code, or through the admin control panel. While there is room for growth and development, you never feel as though the software has reached a plateau. The development team continually rises to the challenge of delivering new versions, builds, add-ons and enhancements on a very regular basis…not just access to BETA software but ALPHA builds for you to familiarize yourself with before the app is launched as well. Community supported forums always turns the gears in continued development and discussion at all levels of the storefront. Just my 2 cents. 5/5"

We started selling on the Internet in 1999 and struggled through the early shopping cart, security certificate, back-end systems troubles on our own. We then tried a few other systems and had little success. Finally we got on to a winning system in 2004 with ASPDotNetStorFront. Most shopping carts will build a store for you. But other systems don't take into account Internet marketing, email marketing, mailing list management, search engine optimization, bulk discounts, customer rewards, and much more, but all of this is included for FREE with ASPDotNetStoreFront. Our search engine rankings have skyrocketed along with our profits. Top notch support, too many features to mention and a truly responsive staff all make ASPDotNetStoreFront a winner. If you want a system that will MAKE YOU MONEY, ASPDotNetStoreFront is THE BEST."

From my experience this is the most customizable package, on both the front and back end, of any cart available with out spending thousands of dollars. Built on MS SQL 2005, .net 2.0, using a patent-pending XML/XSL rendering engine, this is state-of-the-art. Source code for VB and C# are included. They have gift certificates in beta right now. They are working to complete an integration with an incredible ERP product that allows us small merchants to employ tools and techniquest that the big companies have, to truly compete on a bit better playing field. How many times have you wished you had something better than Quickbooks to run your business? Well, with this cart and that ERP system, you can do it right.
This team is always working to create the next great thing, which probably explains why the user guide is not as good as it should be, and they are always juggling to keep up with all the configuration questions and assist with upgrades; everything is always evolving to the highest levels of possibility.
