"I haven't yet used this cart but I have begun developing using CakePHP. Because the entire framework is MVC based, BakeSale plugs right in and from what I hear is very simple to incorporate into your site.
CakePHP is very AJAX capable which really allows a developer to create a fully customized user experience. BakeSale focuses on managing the transactions and shopping cart.
It is VERY developer focused so not a choice for people who aren't familiar with PHP or more specifically with the CakePHP framework."

BakeSale is an interesting product that is as much about a philosophy of simplicity and openness as it is about technology. They conciously avoid the bloat of other open source products like osCommerce. It's a young product still under development but one to keep an eye on. |
