"A great base from which to establish a basic coldfusion shopping cart.
Code is commented with a great user manual. Price is also a great attraction as it is on a per developed basis not the usual per server basis.
The reason I rated this as 'Ok'is that Cartweaver lacks what are now standard cart features (Price Discounts, wish lists, multi-payment options, newsletter integration, gift certificates etc.) The developers are convinced that keeping it basic, coupled with modular code, will allow all these things to be built by purchaser of the software.
Code is modular, but also complex in way too many places. Database structure is a work of art - with referential integrity sacrosanct. This makes seemingly simple add-ons complex.
So what you save at purchase time you blow big time on time to code and integrate add-ons. A couple of basic add-ons by a 3rd party developer will quadruple the initial cost of Cartweaver, so the economics don't make sense compared to other coldfusion carts with more extensive inbuilt features, even after accounting for per server versus per developer pricing.
I may change my tune once version 3 hits the streets (Not yet annnounced) but based on the publicly stated philosophy of the developers, future versions will not address the features problem.
In summary: Great for really simple carts where the out of the box features satisfy 99% of shop needs.
Also great for developers who like to get their hands dirty with code, and have the time, money and inclination to adapt Cartweaver to do what you need.
For the rest, I would look elsewhere, and nail down a cart that has most the features you need out of the box "
