"UltraCart is very hard to use because it was built by programmers who did not have regular end users in mind. I know because I am a programmer and have employees that find it hard to use and I don't blame them. It's completely none intuitive.
Along with this they have very poor customer service. It took them 3 weeks to respond to me for critical support which I needed and emailed them that I needed very badly. In the end I got the company president to help me (Jonathan) and he was very curt and did not apologize to me. I am glad to finally be getting rid of them. There are much better options out there.

"Site down time is an issue as is customer service. I've been a customer for 3 years and I'm moving to another pinnacle reseller. The only service here is the pinnacle ticket system. The owner is completely uninvolved..."

"Modular Merchant has been our hosting service, written much of our PHP based code, and we have made extensive use of their shopping cart for 2 years or more. Their shopping cart has more features per buck than anything I found elsewhere. The admin userface is for the most part easy to use, and has some features that can really save time, or are really valuable, most notably capturing partially completed orders, so you can contact the customer, and complete the sale. This feature alone has paid me well over a thousand dollars in the last 2 years. My customers have given many compliments on the site, both for ease of use, and look and feel . . there have been some niggling problems, but every time I have had a serious problem, not always their fault, they have solved said problem within HOURS.
Asking for features they do not include in their shopping cart has resulted in solutions within minutes, to months, depending on the complexity of what I am asking for, and there are still a few features, most notably cross sell, inventory MY way, an easy to use phone in order user interface, and proper back up of the site that they still haven't addressed . . their pricing plans include hosting, and incredibly available and usually intelligent phone/email/forum support."

"I have been with Modular Merchant since early 2005 and am very happy with them. The team is very responsive and works hard to take care of any issues that arise. The software itself generally works very smoothly - especially the download module - and that saves us a lot of headaches in customer support time. The cart I used prior to Modular Merchant was so poor with digital downloads that I spent nearly 60% of my time trying to get the product to customers. Modular Merchant's download module is smooth, secure, and generally the only problems that arise are those that are related to the customer's ISP - not our cart or processes. This is a strong position to be in because makes it easier for us to maintain strong customer relationships.
Modular Merchant has plans to add additional features to the product and I am excited to see how that progresses. They are willing to listen to feedback from their clients about what our customers are asking for.
One of the features that our company values is the subscription module. It works well and allows us to run two successful subscription programs. We can add additional programs with different billing dates without any worry, either, because we have the flexibility to bill them through at any time.
However, it is the people at Modular Merchant that mean the most to us. It is hard not to be loyal to a team that hustles and works so hard to try to be a partner in your company's success. When we have bumps in the road, they work with me until we come up with a solution that works for all of us. In today's world where it is easy to feel lost and shuffled about by companies that don't care about you, the Modular Merchant attitude towards client relationships is easily their top selling feature.

"The Lexus Of Shopping Carts!
After an exhaustive search and review, as well as testing other 3rd party carts and talking to various vendors, we decided to use Modular Merchant and have been very pleased ever since.
The ability to totally customize the Modular cart to match our existing website goes far beyond the customization offered by even some of the Major Players. The fact that they will do (and actually did for us) custom development to the cart to suit our unique business needs is amazing. When talking to other vendors we could not find any other cart that would consider doing custom development or even make small changes to their cart to suit our business needs.
In a nutshell, our 12-month history with Modular Merchant has shown they consistently listen to, respond to, and actually care about their customers. They are the Lexus of shopping carts, a quality cart with superior functionality.

"Horrible technical support, very difficult to get on the phone. I was trying to purchase their services for 2 weeks and they were not capable of setting up a conference call. I can only imagine what I have to go through to get resolution to potential problems I will face."

"Before choosing instantestore I research many carts and took several for a test drive. instantestore was the only one that offered every options I was looking for and had a reasonable price. There support staff are some of the nicest people you will ever work with. My only complaint is that they don't have 24/7 support and have weird hours. But, they more than make up for it in their willingness to help.
They are constantly adding new features and offer training videos for SEO and setting up key features of your store. The set-up of the shopping cart is designed to be search engine friendly and they even have a handy search engine wizard that helps you fine tune every single page as you create it.
I really can't see enough about how great their support staff is. I was a complete newbie when I signed up with them and they have walked me through every step of the way.

"I use Ultracart and am not happy with them. Their site frequently slows down or is intermittently unavailable, especially on weekends, which is especially frustrating because you can't contact anyone there at that time. Their customer service, in general, is poor -- it's very difficult to contact them by phone, and when there is a site issue, they have no blog or notification system to let merchants know what's going on or when it might be resolved. They're constantly plugging more services (at additional fees) and throwing them right in your face when you try to access your account stats. I wish our experience with them was more positive, but it just hasn't been. We're actively looking at other shopping carts."

"Very complicated to setup. When I signed up for the free trial the lack of welcome email or any information should of been a sign to leave. I paid thousands for their developer to get me setup in the cart with a catalog.
Main issue with their service is the fact that they have 0 support after you are paying especially if you pay for custom development. The hosting is extremely slow and images hosted on their servers take seconds to load on my website. Also, I'm paying quite a bit more than the $35 listed on the review here.
All in all the solution works just needs to have some documentation, simplified interface, and speed up their hosted servers to move up to an average rating for me."
